Some water leaks are visible and their source is obvious. Others are not, and the water travels through walls, ceilings and floors with resulting the visible damage occurring far away from the source. Our experienced plumbing team can interpret the signs and reveal the cause of the water leak quickly before more damage can be done to your home. A custom diagnosis and repair plan will be developed to fix the leak properly. In addition to our plumbing and repipe services, our Houston plumbers also offer water damage repair services for walls and floors so you can get your home back to normal faster. If you are hearing water trickling in your walls when the taps are off, seeing water spots on your walls, ceilings, or floors, or noticing buckling tiles or flooring, contact John Moore today for our leak detection service. Finally I get to write my fantastic review of Eduardo after the holidays! I had problems with my toilet, the tank refilling every hour. In addition, i noticed one of the rubber pieces disintegrating at the base. I did not trust myself after googling how to fix this problem. After looking at the fantastic reviews on YELP for this company, I chose to call Eduardo. Eduardo was very nice and gave me a proposed estimate on the phone, also giving me options if I had wanted to purchase any pieces on my own to save cost. He came the day after and immediately got to work. Eduardo was neat, wearing shoe covers into the house, and also wiping down the tank after unscrewing it off the toilet. I really appreciated this. Eduardo also knew everything he was doing without hesitation. He was super friendly and gave me plenty of tips as he was working away! Later that evening there was an issue, of the tank water leaking into the toilet. After calling Edward, he came right back and replaced one of the pieces I had purchased with one of his preferred brands. I was shocked that a brand new piece could be defective. But Eduardo was quite certain that was the problem! Sure enough, after Eduardo reinstalled that piece, my toilet has been running like a charm! Eduardo is surely the person I will call for future plumbing needs! He really cares about his customers and the work he does for them! And btw, even though he had to come back a second time, he had the best of attitudes, and only wanted to get the job done right! Thanks, Eduardo!! Happy New Years!!!!! A definite A+++++ job!!! I just had my pipe under the sink unclogged and new pipes put in $600.00, then they flushed out the pipe from under the sink to the outside pipe $700.00, Total of $1.600.00, I thought that the price was high, I got the plumber from Home Advisors, not sure they had to do all they did but they said I needed the work done. The same evening hike using the dishwasher I had a leak in one of the pipes they put in, they came back the next day to fix it. Don't know if I will use them again.. They were K&D kitchens.
Concerned about household water usage? Consider installing a low-flow showerhead. Water is usually the second-most expensive utility in the home, and the shower is one of the main uses of water in the home (after the washing machine). Low-flow showerhead installation can save you up to $200 a year on water bills, as well as having a positive effect on the environment.

Much of the plumbing work in populated areas is regulated by government or quasi-government agencies due to the direct impact on the public's health, safety, and welfare. Plumbing installation and repair work on residences and other buildings generally must be done according to plumbing and building codes to protect the inhabitants of the buildings and to ensure safe, quality construction to future buyers. If permits are required for work, plumbing contractors typically secure them from the authorities on behalf of home or building owners.
Using corrosive chemicals to dissolve a clog is like throwing a grenade down a gopher hole. Instead, Wroblewski recommends flushing your drains weekly with a half cup of baking soda and one cup of vinegar. Let it fizz in the drain for ten minutes, then pour in four cups of boiling water. Find out about the plumbing nightmares that will make you cringe.

Another way to avoid a service call from your plumber is to make sure the outside faucets are turned off in the winter and make sure you disconnect the outside hoses. You need to shut the water off from the inside. Then, open the valve on the outside to let the water that’s in there drain out—you switch both of them to the opposite direction so one is always closed and one is always open. We have to fix tons of these in the spring mostly because people leave their outside hoses connected and they freeze up. The repair could cost $100-$200 or more. Another tip would be if you’re going away for any length of time, like on vacation, turn off your water. If on any of those days the temperature drops below freezing, have someone check in on your house. I’ve been called to homes where the family returned from vacation, and there was water flooding out from the front door.
Severe plumbing emergencies can cause a lot of collateral damage and result in high costs if not addressed immediately. For example, if your basement floods at 2:00 A.M., it’s vital that an emergency plumber visits right away to resolve the problem and prevent further water damage. Our technicians can arrive at your residence as soon as possible, bringing state-of-the-art equipment to address the plumbing emergency, complete the job in a timely and efficient manner, and get your household plumbing systems back to normal quickly. Providing 24/7 plumbing is just one of the many services Roto Rooter fulfills.
Eduardo took my information and made an appointment to come the next day. He also mentioned he would try to fit me in at the end of the day. Since I called so late, I really didn't expect him to accommodate me on the same day. Then at 4:30, Eduardo texted and called me that he could actually come shortly after 5 pm! I am so glad that I can get the problem fixed a day early!
Wooden pipes were used in London and elsewhere during the 16th and 17th centuries. The pipes were hollowed-out logs, which were tapered at the end with a small hole in which the water would pass through. The multiple pipes were then sealed together with hot animal fat. They were often used in Philadelphia, Boston, and Montreal in the 1800s, and built-up wooden tubes were widely used in the USA during the 20th century. These pipes, used in place of corrugated iron or reinforced concrete pipes, were made of sections cut from short lengths of wood. Locking of adjacent rings with hardwood dowel pins produced a flexible structure. About 100,000 feet of these wooden pipes were installed during WW2 in drainage culverts, storm sewers and conduits, under highways and at army camps, naval stations, airfields and ordnance plants.
